You asked for it and we put the FS3000-1015 on a board. We also released the Person Sensor from Useful Sensors earlier this week!
Hello, everyone! It’s Friday, yet again, and that means more new products. This week, we have three new products to show off and it all starts with the new FS3000-1015 Air Velocity Sensor! This is extremely similar to the sensor board we released last year, but this one can detect and measure air velocities up to around 33 miles per hour instead of just 16mph. Following that, and we actually announced this on Wednesday, but the new Person Sensor from Useful Sensors is now available (we are currently out of stock, but we are currently accepting back orders to secure your spot in line when we get them back). We round out the week with a new Stepper Motor Driver. Now, let’s jump in and take a closer look at all of this week’s new products!
This version of the SparkFun Air Velocity Sensor Breakout is focused around Renesas’ FS3000-1015, a surface-mount air velocity module with a range of 0-15m/s (0-33.6mph), which is twice as much as the FS3000-1005. It utilizes a MEMS thermopile-based sensor, features a digital output with 12-bit resolution and comprises a “solid” thermal isolation technology and silicon carbide coating to protect it from abrasive wear and water condensation.
The Person Sensor from Useful Sensors Inc. includes a camera module pre-programmed with algorithms that detect nearby faces, and return information over a simple Qwiic I2C interface. It is designed to be used as an input to a larger system and be treated like any other sensor where power and information are provided through SparkFun’s Qwiic I2C interface. There’s also a separate interrupt pin, TP1, which is used to indicate if any people have been detected.
We expect to have more stock of this sensor within the next month. If you place a back order, you’ll secure your spot in line for when we receive more stock!
The TB6612 on this board features a polarity protection FET on the motor voltage input and a pullup on the “standby” enable pin. Each breakout chip contains two full H-bridges (four half H-bridges). That means you can drive 2-4 solenoids (only two can be active at a time, on opposite bridges), two DC motors bi-directionally, or one stepper motor. Just make sure they’re good for 1.2 Amp or less of current, since that’s the limit of this chip.
