Has the Summer heat got you down, zapping your energy, developing into a creative slump? Perhaps, in the mid-year, you have felt your well of inspiration has begun to run dry? We’ve got you! Here are some inspiring project ideas from Hackster to get those creative juices flowing again.

Project 1: The VitiBox Cloud, a ground-based image collection system designed for VitiVisor.

From Hackster: “The story started in mid-2018, at the invitation of Riverland Wine, researchers from the University of Adelaide visited a range of Riverland vineyards and discussed with growers key pain points and future ambitions as they relate to digital viticulture….messages that would form the basis of what has now become ‘VitiVisor’.”

The University of Adelade describing how VitiVisor works, “The ground-based vision system (GBVS) collects and analyses imagery from camera systems that can be mounted on any agricultural vehicle and can interpret these images through a set of sophisticated computer vision algorithms to generate insights for growers.”

This project implemented the SparkFun GPS-RTK-SMA Breakout -ZED-F9P Board. As you can see, it’s got great potential to be the star in your next GPS-RTK project!

Project 2: An innovative wearable technology for visually impaired peoples.

Although this project is from 2017, its ingenuity and humanitarian focus still feel pertinent! From Muhammed Azhar, the relevant maker, this project is a, “Third eye for people who are blind is an innovation which helps the blind people to navigate with speed and confidence by detecting the nearby obstacles using the help of ultrasonic waves and notify them with buzzer sound or vibration. They only need to wear this device as a band or cloth.”

Project 3: Practice meditation using a “Breathing Light”, a lamp that dims by a predefined breathing program

This project is great for beginners or those who are looking for a breathing aid while practicing meditation! The background to this project starts, “A friend of mine asked me to build a Breathing Light for him. What is a breathing light? It is a lamp that dims by a predefined breathing program. By looking at the lamp and synchronizing your breath with it, you can calm yourself and practice many kinds of meditation.”

This project takes advantage of the ESP8266’s WiFi capabilities, turning it into an access point and configuring the light with an HTML form. Check it out!

Project 4: This project compares solar irradiance performance between fixed system and a tracking system.

Have you ever wondered how much better tracking systems are (as compared to fixed systems) at measuring solar irradiance? Maybe you want to install solar panels and are considering if installing a tracking system is worth it?

Team A&T Robotics describes this project as, “This project compares solar panel irradiance between two well-known systems – fixed vs. tracking. Most solar generation systems used for residential areas have fixed solar panels, frequently mounted on the roof. Some solar generation sites have panels mounted in the fixed but optimal angle that can be used year-round. Some sites use adjustable tilt angle panels whose tilt angles are adjusted each season to improve efficiency.”

The Big Easy Driver is a stepper motor driver board for bi-polar stepper motors, and was easily integrated into this project to help control the rotation of the system. Get yours today!
