Hello everyone and welcome back to another Friday product post here at SparkFun Electronics. This week, we are excited to announce our newest RFID sensor with the SparkFun Simultaneous RFID Reader featuring the M7E Hecto! Replacing the ever popular M6E Nano board, this new version features a high read rate and extended range and can significantly improve processing speed in applications like inventory management or access control. Following that, we have three new project mats from iFixit that are ideal for organization and note taking. Now, let’s jump in and take a closer look at all of this week’s new products.

More Tags, Less Time

The SparkFun M7E Hecto Simultaneous RFID Reader simplifies reading UHF RFID tags (EPCglobal Gen 2) with its powerful M7E-HECTO module by JADAK©. This improved version builds upon the popular M6E reader by offering easier connectivity and enhanced features.

The M7E Hecto boasts high performance, reading tags at an impressive rate of up to 300 tags per second and writing at 80 milliseconds. It provides adjustable power output ranging from 0dBm to 27dBm. A suitable external antenna (sold separately) enables reading tags from distances up to 16 feet (4.9 meters). The on-board antenna offers a read range of one to two feet. Range performance depends on a wide variety of parameters so range results may vary.

The iFixit Anti-Static Project Tray is invaluable for all electronics projects and repairs. Store tiny components and screws in the 20 small compartments, store large components and tools in the larger compartments. Made from transparent Anti-Static Plastic, so it’s safe for delicate components.

Designed by fixers, for fixers, the 8in. by 10in. Magnetic Project Mat from iFixit catches and securely holds screws as you pull them out of a device. Now you can stop worrying about keeping track of all the loose screws and focus on your project. Screws and small parts will remain right where you left them.

The FixMat features two ways to keep track of screws and small parts: lay them on the magnetic, gridded, dry-erase surface, or drop them in the easy-access sorting bins. Tackle more complex projects thanks to upgraded surface graphics and an included 0.5mm, rollaway-proof pen. In the spirit of Adam Savage: if you’re not writing it down, you’re just screwing around.

That’s it for this week. As always, we can’t wait to see what you make! Shoot us a tweet @sparkfun, or let us know on Instagram, Facebook or LinkedIn. Please be safe out there, be kind to one another! We’ll be back with more new products next week so make sure to check back then. Happy hacking!
